Shishapangma expedition

Mt. Shishapangma expedition is popular expedition in Tibet. Shishapangma expedition offer beautiful Himalayan views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Cho Oyu , Mt. Holy Kailash, Mt. Lhakpa Ri, Mt. Gurla Mandata etc, beautiful landscape, lush valleys, Tibetan monasteries. Mt. Shishapangma 8103m was first climbed by H. Ching and Nine Climbers in 1964. This 'exquisite apparition' is located in central Himalaya and lies totally within Tibet. To the east lies Mount Molamenchen, to the west Mount Xifeng & Mount Nandengri and to the northwest Mount Kangbochen. Shishapangma Sanskrit name is "Gosainthan". Reinhold Messner called it "an exquisite apparition". Indeed, it is Emerging out of the earth-brown Tibetan plateau a solitary snow goddess rearing its not-so-ugly head out to be admired. 

Shishapangma expedition begins at Tibet border Kodari after 5-6 hours drive from Kathmandu. After immigration formalities at Border, Himalaya Journey Treks & Expedition’s climbing guide led through beautiful valley of Zhangmu, Nyalam, Chinese base camp and finally reach Shishapangma advance base camp. There are three distinct Mount Shishapangma expedition routes on the Southwest face with several other logical possibilities on the West Ridge and East face. Our route picks up from Nyalam, 33km from the Nepal - Tibet border, up to the Chinese base camp at an altitude of about 5000-5400m. The trek to BC takes about three to five days via the Nyanang Phu Chu valley. Spring season is best time for climbing Shishapangma but we Himalaya Journey Trekking arrange around the year as per mountaineers wish and holiday frame.

Mt. Shishapangma expedition  itinerary:

Day 01: Arrival to Kathmandu, transfer to hotel, Mt. Shishapangma expedition briefing with officially arrangements. overnight at Kathmandu

Day 02: Free day in Kathmandu. O/N hotel B/B.

Day 03: Drive to Kodari, transfer to Zhangmu, hotel F/B

Day 04: Drive to Nylam, Guesthouse

Day 05: Acclimatization at Nylam, Guesthouse

Day 06: Drive to Chinese Base Camp

Day 07: Trek towards ABC

Day 08-10: Arrive at Advance Base Camp

Day 11-30: Climbing Period of Shisapangma.

Day 31: Trek from Advance Base Camp to Chinese Base Camp

Day 32: Drive to Nylam Guesthouse

Day 33: Drive to Zhangmu - Kathmandu, hotel B/B

Day 34: After breakfast, Himalaya Journey tour guide will take to for historical monuments sightseeing in kathmandu valley such as Boudhhanath : visit Bodhnath Stupa, one of the best Buddhist shrines in the world, where we observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the stupa than visit Pashupatinath: the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here you see Hindu holy men (sadhus) meditating, pilgrims bathing and occasionally funeral pyres burning on the ghats. Kathmandu durbar square: you will enjoy with different Hindus Temple , Goddes Kumari, legend of kathmadu valley etc and in the evening farewell dinner in Nepalese Restaurant, overnight at kathmandu in Hotel.

Day 35: After breakfast, Relaxing/shopping with own activities , Himalaya Journey Treks & Expedition's representative will drop to Kathmandu international airport for onward journeys or if you have time to stay in Nepal will arrange any other trip such as Chitwan Junlge safari tour, Lumbini tour, Chitwan jungle safari tour , river rafting etc.

Expedition Cost Includes:

  • All land transportation by Van, Land Cruiser, Jeep, Hiace or Mini Bus (Airport/Hotel/Airport & expedition pick up & drop).
  • Accommodation in Kathmandu for 6 nights at bed and breakfast basis.
  • Tibet visa fee.
  • Expedition Permit fee of Mt. Shishapangma south face.

  • Accommodation in Tibet on full board basis (breakfast, lunch & dinner).
  • 1 Climbing Sherpa per climbing member.

Expedition Cost Doesn’t Include:

  • Airfare: To & from your country.
  • International airport departure tax.
  • Nepal entry & Re-entry visa fee (can be obtained at the airport upon arrival).
  • Lunch and dinner during your stay in Kathmandu.
  • Hotel after 6 night stay in Kathmandu.
  • Oxygen bottles, mask and regulator for expedition use (Poisk Oxygen System).
  • Personal insurance such as travel, accident, medical, emergency evacuation and lost luggage.
  • Applicable permit fees & customs charges, etc. for personal SAT phone, Walkie-Talkie communication equipment & commercial filming.
  • Porters and transportation in case of natural calamity.
  • Nepal custom duty charges for import of expedition goods.
  • Extra yaks if required.
  • Expenses of personal nature such as drinks, laundry, postage, telephone etc.
  • Tips and bonuses for staff.


Summit Bonus for climbing Sherpa must pay by Climber: Per Sherpa-USD 500 for over 8000m, USD 8000 USD for up to Summit.
